We don't have the cash required to hire a lawyer to write us a legitimate, legally sound terms of service so basically we've just got some plain English stuff (that's probably more useful to users in a practical sense anyway) in the mean time.
If you have any questions about this document or anything at all, and we'll do our best to help.
Campus Notes simply facilitates the publishing of content. All content is owned by its author. We do not reserve the right to reuse content stored at Campus Notes anyway we want, it's yours not ours. That also means Campus Notes isn't liable for any content published on the site.
While it's not possible to share files through any function on the site the same goes: nothing illegal. Upload anything you want as long as it's not illegal. If you want to upload 2GB of photos from your vacation, that's cool. We will delete any files with illegal content, no questions asked.
Anything you keep private in Campus Notes (i.e. not shared) is totally yours. You can store whatever you like. Unlimited notes and any amount of files that add up to 2GB per account. We won't look at it and because it's not shared, no one else can.
As soon as you share something we have some rules. Basically we don't care what you share. Swear as much as you like and stuff like that just nothing illegal. For example: No software serial codes, links to pedophilia, instructions on how to make a bomb, etc. If you post something illegal and we find out about it we will delete it and suspend your account.
The basic rule is don't publish anything illegal. That said, there's often grey areas and in those matters we reserve the right to remove anything we want. Again, we're pretty liberal, we're not going to go around deleting your stuff willy nilly. If something is borderline, we're much more likely to simply mark it as private and tell you to stop it.
We've tried our hardest to make a bug-free and solid website but shit happens and the website may go down or a database might fail, etc. This is the last thing we want to happen and we do all we can to stay secure but some things are just out of our control. If we lose your data or the website is down for an extended period, sorry!
We recommend never using Campus Notes (or any other web service for that matter) as the sole location of your data and files. Keep a backup. Again, we're doing our best to make sure it never happens but if it does, there's not much we can do.
